Metal Machining Services

In the mechanical manufacturing industry, metal machining is considered to be the most widely used process for machining parts. Meanwhile, CNC metal provides tighter machining accuracy, more consistent machining quality, and higher machining efficiency.

Custom Metal Machining Services

Metal machining is a part manufacturing process that involves CNC machining, milling, turning, drilling, EDM, and wire EDM processes. Through the process of removing metal material, the CNC machine cut the desired shape, size, and surface finish to meet the specifications of product designs and engineering drawings.

With state-of-the-art machining equipment and experienced machinists, the WayKen team is able to provide precision CNC metal machining services that can handle custom metal parts with tight tolerance requirements and complex geometry needs.

Our CNC metal capabilities include prototyping and low-volume custom machining, with particular expertise in CNC aluminum machining, as well as other metals such as magnesium, zinc, titanium, steel, and stainless steel, and a variety of secondary operations and surface treatments.

Why Use CNC For Metal Machining?

  • Flexible and Efficient Production
CNC machining makes custom metal parts easier and has been considered the best way to ensure high standards in metal machining and part manufacturing. All processes can be set up using adjustable fixtures and automated machine positioning systems, making it possible to respond to production schedules with greater flexibility and productivity.

  • High Accuracy and Repeatability
CNC metal machining allows a higher level of precision and accuracy. Production is completely automated by the program and the machining process is continuous. So every part or prototype will be replicated to the first one, making the manufacturing process fast and easy to give a completely consistent output.

  • Eliminate Labor and Reduce Costs
Due to technological developments, machining in the manufacturing industry has been automated. The metal machining process is mainly controlled by computers or robots, which avoids the process of long processes in production lines. Also, it reduces hardware investment and workload, saving a lot of time and effort, and thus reducing production costs.
  • How Does CNC Metal Machining Work?

CNC is a high-efficiency automated machine tool for machining complex-shaped workpieces consisting of mechanical equipment and CNC systems. They are equipped with tool storage with an automatic tool change function. Therefore, the workpiece can be multi-process machined after a single set-up.

The CNC system can control the machine tool according to different metal machining operations automatically changing tooling, selecting the spindle speed, feed, etc. So it can be completed continuously by drilling, boring, milling, reaming, tapping, and other processes.

The CNC metal process greatly reduces the workpiece clamping, measuring and machine tool adjustment, and other auxiliary setup time, which is suitable for machining more complex shapes, high precision, and repeatability requirements of the parts.

Different Machining Processes for CNC Metal Parts

  • Turning – This is a form of CNC metal machining that involves the use of lathes and cutting tools to remove unwanted metal material from rotating parts. CNC turning is ideal for creating cylindrical pieces.
  • Milling – Milling involves the use of multi-point rotary tools to remove material from a workpiece. The features of milling metal processes include pockets, slots, flat surfaces, complex contours, and chamfers.
  • Drilling – Drilling creates a round hole in the metal workpiece. A drill press or tapping machine is designed for drilling, but a milling machine can also be used to perform this process. The boring process involves enlarging existing cast or drilled holes; The reaming is used to enlarge a previously drilled hole to a very precise diameter.
  • EDM – EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining) is used to fulfill the removal of material from the surface of the workpiece by electrical discharge erosive processes. It’s widely used in aluminum machining as an auxiliary machining process since some complex metal parts can be achieved only with the help of EDM.
  • Wire EDM – It uses a moving metal wire as the tool electrode, and passes a pulse current between the wire and the workpiece, using the corrosion effect of the pulse discharge to cut the CNC metal parts.
  • Precision, Quality and Affordability at any volume.
